C4.3 Aims of an Audit

 

The specific aims of an audit may vary from organisation to organisation, but will usually include:

  • Assess compliance with EMS standard requirements (14001 or EMAS).
  • Assess compliance with legislation.
  • Assess compliance with other requirements, such as Client and Stakeholder’s requirements.
  • Identify best practice.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide performance management information that may be used in Key Performance Indicators or Management Reviews.
