C4.3 Aims of an Audit
The specific aims of an audit may vary from organisation to organisation, but will usually include:
- Assess compliance with EMS standard requirements (14001 or EMAS).
- Assess compliance with legislation.
- Assess compliance with other requirements, such as Client and Stakeholder’s requirements.
- Identify best practice.
- Identify opportunities for improvement.
- Provide performance management information that may be used in Key Performance Indicators or Management Reviews.
