Waste legislation in Northern Ireland is outlined below:
Animal By-Products Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003 SR 495
These Regulations lay down health rules concerning animal by-products not intended for human consumption.
Controlled Waste Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2002 SR 248
Defines household, industrial and commercial waste, for waste management licensing purposes.
Controlled Waste (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003 SR 404
Amends 2002/248 to include animal by-products.
Controlled Waste (Duty of Care) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2002 SR 271
Creates a duty of care for controlled waste that requires all producers, carriers and managers of waste to keep records and use waste transfer notes.
Controlled Waste (Duty of Care) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2004 SR 277
Amends 2002/271 to change the codes used on waste transfer notes to the European Waste Catalogue codes.
Controlled Waste (Registration of Carriers and Seizure of Vehicles) Regulations 1991 SI 1624
Introduces a registration system for carriers of controlled waste.
Controlled Waste (Registration of Carriers and Seizure of Vehicles) (Amendment) Regulations 1998 SI 605
Amends 1991/1624 to update the procedure for applying for waste carriers registration.
Controlled Waste (Registration of Carriers and Seizure of Vehicles) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1999 SR 362
Details the system for registering carriers of controlled waste and for seizing vehicles used for the illegal disposal of waste.
