An effective EMS requires effective communication, both internally and externally. To be effective, communication should be specific and at an appropriate level for the person being communicated to.
Communication can include a wide variety of techniques such as written procedures, employee meetings, working groups, Organisation Intranet, website, newsletters, posters and use of notice boards.
