C2.9.1 Policy
An organisation should develop an Environmental Policy. This is usually a one-page document.
The Environmental Policy should explain the organisations commitment to environmental performance. It should demonstrate top management commitment, which usually means it is signed by a senior member of staff, such as a board member.
To ensure that the Environmental Policy remains relevant, it should be regularly review. In practice this is often done annually, often as part of the Management Review.
An example Policy is provided below. Please note that most organisations have their environmental policy available on their public website and you will be able to view a variety of Environmental Policies online.
