C2.9.13 Monitoring & Measurement
To ensure that the EMS remains effective, the performance should be measured and then monitored. Many organisations conduct a series of environmental inspections to monitor day to day performance. For example, a supervisor may conduct a weekly environmental checklist, with in-depth environmental inspections being conducted at a set frequency by an Environmental Practitioner.
Where monitoring equipment is used, it should be maintained and calibrated to ensure it is in working order. This may include water sampling devices, air monitoring equipment or noise monitoring equipment.
