C1.2 Benefits of an Initial Review
An Initial Review is a useful tool for an organisation to evaluate its current environmental management, whether or not formal certification is a goal.
Benefits include:
- Forming a basis on which to base an EMS.
- To establish the current level of environmental performance.
- To conduct as gap analysis against a formal EMS standard with a view to obtaining certification.
- Identification of key environmental impacts, thus allowing you to act on them and reduce them.
- Identification of applicable legal requirements (it therefore enables you to ensure you are fully complaint).
