B7.2.3 RoHS Directive (2002/95/EC)

 

The full title is “Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 January 2003 on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment”.

The aim of this Directive is to contribute to the protection of human health and the environmentally sound recovery and disposal of waste electrical and electronic equipment, by restricting the use of hazardous substances (four heavy metals and two brominated flame retardants) in electrical and electronic equipment.

This Directive was transposed into UK law by the Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in electrical and electronic equipment Regulations 2008 [SI No. 37].
