C3.3.4.5 Box Plot

 

A box plot is a convenient way of graphically depicting groups of numerical data through their range:

 

Sample minimum       smallest observation

Lower quartile             cuts off lowest 25% data

Median                          cuts data set in half

Upper quartile             cuts off highest 25% of data

Sample minimum       largest observation

A box plot may be drawn horizontally or vertically.
