C3.3.2.3 Quantitative or Qualitative?

 

Quantitative Data

Quantitative data is where items are described in terms of numerical quantity or frequency rather than by a particular category.

 

Qualitative Data

Qualitative data describe items in terms of some quality or category. The data may be relate to a characteristic that is difficult to define clearly – such as warmth and flavour. Such data is generally sometimes of less value to scientific research than quantitative data.
