C3.2.2 Audits
An environmental audit is a thorough systematic examination of an organisation’s environmental management. It aims to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the Environmental Management System (EMS).
Audits may cover all of an organisation, or specific areas. Audits may specifically look at certain issues, for example:
- EMS audit
- Covering the implementation of the EMS.
- Waste audit
- Covering waste management and reduction, and / or compliance with waste legislation.
- Energy audit
- Covering electricity, gas consumption.
- Legislative Compliance audit
- This may cover specific issues such as compliance with the Oil Storage Regulations 2001.
