B7.3.3 RoHS
The Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in electrical and electronic equipment Regulations 2008 [SI No. 37]
These are known as the RoHS regulations. They apply to manufacturers of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE). The definition of EEE is the same as in the WEEE Directive (and therefore UK WEE Regulations).
If you manufacture EEE, it must not contain more than the permitted levels of certain substances. There are limits on the concentrations of:
- lead
- mercury
- cadmium
- hexavalent chromium
- polybrominated biphenyl (PBB)
- polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE)
Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (Amendment) Regulations 2009 [SI 581]
Amends the 2010 regulations by correcting drafting errors and substituting a new section on compliance and enforcement notices.
