Other than the costs savings borne by reduced requirements for raw materials, energy, fuel or reduced waste generation, there are other financial benefits.

Good environmental performance can lead to increased sales. Many consumers actively choose environmentally preferable products and services. Over-packaged products will put-off the green savvy buyer, as will the use of certain raw materials (such as palm oil, responsible for the destruction of orangutan’s habitats). This can provide your organisation with a competitive edge and may allow you to develop new markets.
