There are several forms of phosphorus. Phosphorus is found in phosphate ores. It may be present in the atmosphere as small dust particles. It is most commonly found in rock formations and ocean sediments as phosphate salts.
Phosphorus is component of DNA and is an essential element for al living cells.
Industrial uses of Phosphorus:
Phosphorus is used commercially in the production of fertilisers. Phosphorus compounds are also used in explosives, fireworks, matches and detergents.
